Healthy Living - Planning Out Good Nutrition

You can workout every day but unless you incorporate a nutritious diet into your lifestyle, you'll never be as healthy as you could be. Exercise and good nutrition work together to build muscle when you workout.

If you want to add muscle as you train, your body requires at least 40 additional calories per kg of your body weight per day. The extra calories are what give you the energy you need to withstand a monster workout.

Don't use extra calories and as an excuse to binge on junk food. Always eat sensibly if you want to realize your goals.

To have the right nutrition, you need to plan it out. Check the food pyramid or ask a dietician if you have questions about what foods are right for you. An emphasis should be placed on proteins since they are the building blocks of muscles. Protein is what helps build and repair muscles so you want to have a slightly higher number of proteins in your diet.

Make sure you include carbohydrates and fates in limited quantities. Both are necessary to have energy to workout. Building muscle requires at least 50% of the calories from carbohydrates to produce glycogen, which is fuel for energy expenditure. Vitamins and minerals are what your body needs to rebuild tissue, core strength and stamina. They are found in fresh fruits and vegetables.

For the production of blood and strong bones, you need to have of calcium, zinc and iron in your diet. A comprehensive diet plan will include the proper amounts of the right foods to ensure your body has what it needs to build muscles.

You may want to consider adding protein supplement shakes to your diet as a back up. Protein shakes have plenty of vitamins and minerals your body needs after a workout and can be used as a meal replacement.
